How do I pay for the phone rental? The deposit will be your down payment for the phone. When your rental phone is returned, the remainder of your deposit (less the rental fee and phone usage) will be sent back to you. If you exceed ₩100,000 in billing, you will be required to pay the remainder of your bill to continue your rental service.
When do I pay the deposit? The deposit is paid before the phone is activated.
Is there a cancellation fee? Once an order has been confirmed, the renter is liable for the activation/registration fee. If an order is canceled before the package has been sent, the full deposit will be refunded.
Where is my phone shipped? You can request to have your phone shipped to you anywhere in South Korea, including Incheon (Seoul) Airport. Let us know where you'd like to send the phone (English or Korean address), and please allow for 2-3 days shipping. If you would like your phone shipped internationally, please contact us for rates.
How do I send the rental phone back to TheArrivalStore.com? You can ship the phone back to our office address in the same box in which it arrived. If you need to purchase a new box, you can do so at your local post office. If you have any questions, please contact email@example.com.
What if my phone is lost / stolen? In the unfortunate event of a lost or stolen phone, you will be required to purchase another deposit. Once you have purchased a new deposit, and have notified us of your lost/stolen phone, a replacement phone will be sent to you immediately. Your initial deposit will cover the loss of the first phone.
How do I make long distance calls? Instructions on how to make long distance calls will be included in your rental package. You will not want to use 002 or 001 to dial internationally. These are extremely expensive. A long distance calling code will be provided with all cell phone rentals.
What if I decide to use my rental phone long-term? Good news! This is a common situation. If you use the TAS cell phone rental for 2 consecutive months, you can request to move your rental to a regular TAS Simple Cell Phone Contract with no extra fees. We understand that upon arrival to Korea, some of our customers aren’t sure what they want in a phone contract. After a couple of months of renting from TAS, they don’t want to bother setting up a new plan – no problem! The transition is smooth and painless.
100% Refundable Cell Phone Deposit: Further Explained
TAS requires a 100% fully refundable deposit with the purchase of every phone - new, used, and smart phone. This necessary evil was introduced after a few customers left the country without paying their outstanding bills. TAS holds your deposit while the phone is in use and returns your deposit after the phone is (1) successfully returned to our TAS Korea office and (2) the contract is terminated.
While TAS understands that all phones are subject to normal wear and tear, excessive damage to a phone will result in the loss of some or all of the deposit. TAS provides plastic cell phone covers and screen protectors free of charge for most phone models to help you care for your phone. To ensure a full refund on the deposit, TAS highly recommends using the plastic cover and screen protector.
The following are examples of excessive damage that will result in partial or complete loss of the cell phone deposit
- Missing buttons
- Missing battery cover
- Cracked screen
- Excessively scratched screen
- Cracked plastic casing
- Water damage
- Improper functioning
- Obvious misuse
The deposit is returned after the service contract has been completed, the phone has been returned to TAS, and phone damage has been assessed. If applicable, the deposit will be used to (1) pay your final month phone bill and/or (2) cover the cost of any damage. The remainder is returned to you, via PayPal or another payment method arranged. Be assured that TheArrivalStore.com is committed to assessing the damage as fairly as possible!

Don't use the arrival store to acquire a rental phone. I've been here for only 3 months, spent at least $400 with the Arrival Store, and already they are trying to bill me for $140 for a simple rental phone that I used twice. It's not fair to exploit teachers who are trying to get the hang of living in another country. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.

We deal with customers with many different needs and try to provide several different phone options to address their specific needs (no contract, short contract, long contract, flip phones, smart phones etc). I believe that one of our "Simple Phone" (Avg. bills are around $30-40/month for normal use, 6 month contract) or "Smart Phone" ($75/month avg use, 9 month contract) will be a much better fit for you if you are looking for a contract less than two years. As I mentioned above we can also change your Short Term Rental phone into a Simple Phone Lease upon your request, this option is available to all customers.
